The State Revenue Office is a Branch of the Department of Treasury and Finance. It is responsible for collecting State revenue in a fair, transparent and efficient manner on behalf of all Tasmanians.

Revenue collected is used to fund essential services provided by the Tasmanian Government including hospitals, schools, roads and law and order.

Some of the things we do are:

  • collect and administer State taxes;
  • administer a number of grants, subsidies and rebates paid to Tasmanians;
  • conduct audits to ensure all taxpayers pay the correct amount of tax; and
  • provide advice and assistance to taxpayers in regard to all state taxation matters and, where required, take necessary action to recover money owed to the State.
