About the State Revenue Office
The State Revenue Office is a Branch of the Department of Treasury and Finance. We are responsible for collecting State revenue used by the Tasmanian Government to fund essential services including hospitals, schools, roads and law and order.

The State Revenue Office Taxpayer Charter sets out our service standards and a guide for taxpayers about meeting their taxation obligations.
Paying tax by the due date is an important feature of an individual's civic responsibility to assist the State with revenue for infrastructure and services. The State Revenue Office expects taxpayers to pay their taxes when they are due. Where this doesnt happen, we will start planning a course of action to recover the debt. We routinely use consultation on legislative, procedural or administrative changes to provide taxpayers, taxation and other professionals, and representative stakeholders the opportunity to contribute to improving the effectiveness of State taxation administration.

The State Revenue Office presumes that taxpayers intend to meet their obligations. However, by law we are required to ensure compliance with tax laws.
