Overview - Tax Professionals

Options

The State Revenue Office aims to build effective, respectful relationships with tax professionals acting on behalf of a taxpayer including conveyancers, solicitors, accountants, real estate agents and financial planners.

The State Revenue Office actively consults professionals in the tax industry on state taxation issues that affect them and their clients.

We seek feedback from taxpayer representatives through:

  • peak body consultative committees, such as the Law Society Consultative Committee;
  • discussion papers;
  • draft rulings; and
  • direct consultation.

Consultation on legislative, procedural or administrative changes

The Commissioner's Update seminar series also provides an opportunity to meet the Commissioner and raise issues of concern to taxpayers.

Standard Business Reporting Option

Standard Business Reporting (SBR) is now available for payroll tax reporting.

SBR is an Australian Government initiative to reduce the business-to-government reporting burden. SBR has been co-designed by 12 Australian, State and Territory government agencies in partnership with software developers, business and their accountants, bookkeepers, tax agents and payroll professionals.

Get more information about Standard Business Reporting or visit www.sbr.gov.au

To be able to use SBR for your Tasmanian Payroll Tax reporting you will need an AUSkey and it must be linked to your existing Tasmanian Revenue Online (TRO) user account (linking AUSkey to your TRO account).

Reporting on behalf of others?

Tasmanian Revenue Online (TRO) now allows an intermediary (e.g. Tax Agent) to have a single TRO user account through which they can act on behalf of all of their TRO registered clients. Find out more about Intermediaries in TRO.
