Annual electricity concession

​​​​​​​​​​The annual electricity concession provides a bill discount for eligible low-income customers.

 The rate of the concession from 1 July 2025 is $1.76866 per day for retail customers and $645.56 as a once off payment in 2025-26 for eligible embedded network customers.

​Eligibility

The person seeking the concession must hold one of the following cards: 
  • Pensioner Concession Card – issued by Centrelink or Department of Veterans’ Affairs
  • Health Care Card – issued by Centrelink
  • ImmiCard (Bridging Visa E) – issued by Department of Immigration and Border Security
  • Tasmanian Concession Card - issued by Department of Premier and Cabinet
The name on the concession card must match the name of the account holder of the electricity account. The concession recipient must be responsible for the payment of the electricity account.

The annual electricity concession is only available for the customer's principal place of residence. Concessions cannot be claimed for holiday homes or investment/rental properties.

For retail customers, the electricity account must be billed at a general domestic tariff rate or its equivalent. Electricity accounts that combine domestic and commercial or business tariffs are not eligible for the concession.

Retail Customers

To apply for the annual electricity concession:​ 

The State Revenue Office cannot accept and approve applications, it is the responsibility of your electricity retailer.

Embedded network customers
