Life support concession

The life support concession provides a discount to eligible customers who use an approved life support system, or who live with someone who uses such a system. On and from 1 July 2025, the approved life support systems and their daily discounts are:
Eligibility
The electricity account holder must require, or live with a person who requires, an approved life support system in their principal place of residence.They do not need to quality for the annual electricity concession to qualify for the life support concession.
The approved life support systems that qualify for the life support concession are:
- Oxygen concentrator
- Peritoneal dialysis machine
- Haemo-dialysis machine
- Chronic positive pressure and airways regulator
- Respirator (iron lung)
- Combination oxygen concentrator and chronic positive pressure and airways regulator

Continuous positive airways pressure machine
- Phototherapy machine
- Left ventricular assist device
- Nebuliser machine (main powered only)
How to apply
Retail Customers
Retail customers receive the concession as a daily discount shown as a credit on their electricity bill. The concession starts from the date the electricity retailer receives the completed application form. The amount on each bill depends on how many days are in the billing period and when the customer applied.
To apply for the life support concession:
- contact your retailer for more information on how to apply; OR
-
complete the Life support concession application
(also available from your electricity retailer and Service Tasmania) and have it medically certified by the treating medical practitioner; and

send the form to your
electricity retailer.
The State Revenue Office cannot accept and approve applications, it is the responsibility of your electricity retailer.
Embedded Network Customers:
