If you are obtaining finance from a financial institution that has been approved to accept and process grant applications
(called an "approved agent") the financial institution will submit your application directly with the State Revenue Office.
In all other cases, you are required to lodge the application with
Service Tasmania.
How to apply
Step 1. Complete the
First Home Owner Grant application.
Step 2. Gather your
supporting documentation.
Step 3. Lodge your application.
How to lodge
Lodgment of the application can be through an
approved agent or you can lodge these yourself at a
Service Tasmania shop.
Service Tasmania
Your application can be lodged:
- after settlement for the purchase of a new home,
- on the first progress payment (first drawn down on the loan) under a contract to build, or
- upon receipt of a certificate of occupancy/ completion for an owner builder
and
no later than
12 months after date of the certificate or occupancy or settlement.
Approved agent
You will need to check with your agent for their processes.
Decision on your application
The application will be processed within 14 days of lodgement, where all information has been provided and you will be advised of the outcome in writing.
If your application is refused and you do not agree with the Commissioner’s decision, you can lodge an objection. You must lodge the objection within 60 days of the date on the letter advising you of the decision. Before lodging an objection you should read the
