If your financial institution has been approved to accept and process grant applications (called an 'approved agent') it will submit your application directly with us. Check with your approved agent for their processes.
For all other cases, lodge your application through the First Home Owner Grant portal.
How to lodge using the First Home Owner Grant portal
Lodge your application as follows:
- Purchase of a new home - you can lodge your application after settlement for the purchase of a new home and no later than 12 months after settlement; or
- Owner builder - if you are an owner builder and have received a certificate of occupancy or completion, you must lodge the application no later than 12 months after the date of the certificate.

The application will be processed within 14 days of lodgement, where all information has been provided. You will be advised of the outcome in writing.
If your application is refused and you do not agree with the Commissioner’s decision, you can lodge an objection. You must lodge the objection within 60 days of the date on the letter advising you of the decision. Before lodging an objection you should read the
