Email safety
Sometimes our emails include links to SRO webpages or subscriber resources. If you’d prefer not to use the links, you can always go straight to our website.
How to know an email is really from SRO:
- The sender's address ends in 'treasury.tas.gov.au'.
- We won't ask you for sensitive details such as your date of birth.
- We don't send unexpected attachments.
If you’re not sure about an email, contact us at revfeedback@treasury.tas.gov.au.
If you’re uncertain about an email claiming to be about your Tasmanian Revenue Online (TRO) account for:
- Payroll tax;
- Property transfer duty; or
- Insurance duty
sign into TRO instead to read the message. If there is no message on your account, call us on (03) 6166 4400 or
1 800 001 388.
Phone safety
Returning your call
If we call, we won't ask for:
- your land tax or payroll account number;
- your Tasmanian Revenue Online password;
- extra personal details to 'prove' your identity;
- remote access to your computer or device.
If we call you first
If we phone you unexpectedly, we may ask a couple of simple questions … just to make sure we are speaking with the right person and to keep your information safe.
Our phone number
Our phone number may show up as (03) 6145 5070.

SMS safety
We only use SMS messages for reminders when land tax is due or overdue.
Our messages will never:
- include links; or
- ask for your land tax account number;
