Tasmanian Revenue Online

​​​​​​​​​Tasmanian Revenue Online (TRO) is a secure web-based system developed by the State Revenue Office.

Payroll tax

If you are required to pay payroll tax in Tasmania, you must register using TRO.

TRO allows payroll tax registrants to:

  • lodge and amend monthly and annual returns;
  • receive assessment notices and communication from the SRO electronically; and
  • pay your payroll tax.

Users new to TRO will need to commence by registering as a new user. To do this go to https://www.tro.tas.gov.au/ and click on the 'register' button.

​Insurance Duty

If you are required to pay insurance duty in Tasmania, you must register using TRO. This includes if you are only required to lodge ad hoc returns.

TRO allows insurance duty registrants to:

  • lodge and amend monthly, annual and ad hoc returns;
  • receive assessment notices and communication from the SRO electronically; and
  • pay your insurance duty.

Users new to TRO will need to commence by registering as a new user. To do this go to https://www.tro.tas.gov.au/ and click on the 'register' button.

Conveyance duty and land tax searches

TRO can be used for self-endorsement of duty documents once an organisation is registered as an approved agent. Registered users can also request Land Tax Searches.

Individual taxpayers liable to pay duty can also register to submit transactions electronically to the State Revenue Office for assessment.

Using TRO, Duty Instrument and Land Tax Search agents can:

  • endorse duty documents on behalf of their clients;
  • perform land tax searches;
  • communicate to and from the SRO electronically; and
  • pay duty and land tax search fee invoices.

Users new to TRO will need to commence by registering as a new user. If you already have a TRO username you should log in to TRO (www.tro.tas.gov.au) and create your new account using the new application menu item in the top right hand corner of the screen.
